St. Paul's Church Children's Opportunities
Information Center
The hallway bulletin board is an updated information center with the
current news, pictures of the children and education opportunities for the
children to participate in at St. Paul’s Church.
Sunday School
Each Sunday during the 10am service our
faithful teachers and those who volunteer when called upon tend to the
flock of smiling and happy children weekly with spirit and great care.
Classes offered are: Nursery Care,
3 & 4 year olds, Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd
grade, 4th/5th grade and 6th-8th
grade.
Children's Education Committee
The Children's Education Committee meets during the church wide committee
meeting on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:30-9:30pm. You
are invited to make a difference and have a voice in the Sunday School at
St. Paul's. We welcome your participation in making decisions that will
impact the Sunday School and Christian Education Program for our youngest
members. Please consider joining the committee to help shape the future
of our children.
Twelfth
Night (Three Kings Day)
Explore the Christian meaning of the 12 days of Christmas through games
and song.
Children will enjoy a visit from the three Kings after they present their
gifts in the opening hymn of the service. Kings cake fun at coffee hour.
Sunday School In-reach Project
The Sunday School classes are painting or coloring wooden crosses and
making cards to send as a way of letting our shut-in parishioners know we
care and remember them.
Boy Scout Sunday
(February)
Boy Scouts wear their uniform to church during the regular 10am Sunday
Service and have the opportunity to participate as ushers in the service.
Girl Scout Sunday
(March)
Girl Scouts wear their uniform, vest, sash or shirt to church during the
regular 10am Sunday Service and
have the
opportunity to participate in the service.
Girl Scout All
Faith Sunday Service,
2pm in the Chapel.
Girl Scouts of all ages welcome with their troops or families for a simple
service led by Girls Scouts and fellowship and crafts in the social hall
after the service. Award Patches are available.
Sunday School Lent
Outreach Project
The children are doing chores at home to earn money for non perishable
items to donate to Spooner House. When the children bring the items to
church they are tracing their hand and putting it on the display in the
hallway. Our Lent Bullentin Board is St. Paul's Church in the center with
Spooner House in the background. Our goal is to fill the Spooner House
with our hands, love and caring. The Sunday school will collect food and
bring it to the Spooner House on Good Friday. There will be a box in each
classroom for the collection through Lent.
Welcome to
the Table (1st communion)
This Friday evening class is offered to 2nd graders during Lent and
explores the meaning of the Eucharist. The children are recognized during
a teaching service on the Sunday after Easter.
Easter
Experience, Saturday before Easter Sunday at 10am
In keeping with St. Paul's tradition to
bless the Easter foods we will be meeting in the parish hall at 10am with
Rev. Janet.
The children and children at heart will then participate in an "Easter
Experience" reenacting the Passion with all your senses as we walk through
the church, and act out what we usually only hear through Songs, Crafts
and Snacks reinforce the lesson learned during this living story.
Instructional
Eurcharist
Reverend Janet will explain the meaning of
the movements, actions and prayers she says as she prepares the Eucharist
for the parish during the Great Thanksgiving. The children who have
participated in the Welcome to the Table program will be invited to the
altar and assist.
Vacation Bible School
1st week
of August, 9am – noon. . Children 3years – 4th grade travel to
different stations throughout the morning doing crafts, playing games,
hearing stories and singing songs that reinforce the lessons of the day
with kids 5th grade and older as helpers during the week.
All Hallows Eve Party
Sunday before Halloween 3-5pm, Celebrate with a Christian light through
stories, crafts, games and songs.
All Saints Day Scavenger
Hunt
1st Sunday
in November during Sunday school
6-8th grade remember the saints that built our church and
community with a scavenger hunt in the cemetery and Old Church.
Spooner House
Thanksgiving Basket Outreach
Food is
collected and donated to the Spooner House.
Christmas Pageant
Sunday
before Christmas during 10am service
6-8th grade class reads the story of Christ’s Birth while the
younger members of our congregation act out the parts in costume.
God and Country Scout
Programs
These programs study the basic concepts of the bible
and is open to boys and girls in scouts or sunday school. God
and Me (grades 1-3)
God and Family (grades 4-5) and God and Church (grades 6-8)
are available based on interest. Dawn Barber will teach these classes.
Participants are awarded program patches for their uniform.
