Music

In the words of St. Augustine, "He who sings prays twice".  Music at St. Paul's is an integral part of our worship experience. Whether reveling in the majesty of traditional hymns of the Episcopal Liturgy, or prayerfully joining in a simple hymn of praise, music heightens our senses and deepens our prayers.

Music for worship is chosen from many sources, including the Hymnal 1982, Lift Every Voice and Sing, Songs of Praise, and our own published Worship and Praise. Music is chosen that is not only inspiring, but also appropriate for the scripture of the day. Much care is taken to produce a blended worship style, incorporating contemporary worship with the beauty of our Episcopal liturgy.

We currently have two choirs at St. Pauls. Our Adult Choir sings a variety of styles from classical, traditional and contemporary. They are responsible for the music at the 10 AM Sunday service as well as many holiday services. Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights at 7:30pm. This group is open to ages high school and up.

Our Youth Choir is open to all children in grades 2-8. Rehearsals for this group are held on Sunday morning during coffee hour. The training for this group involves rudiments of music reading, basic vocal instruction and an understanding of the liturgy. The Youth Choir sings approximately every 6 weeks as well as for special holiday services.

Please contact Bernadette Allan if you'd like to participate in either of these groups. More voices are always welcome!
