St. Paul's invites
everyone to participate in all parish activities, services and programs.
Membership may be accomplished in a number of ways. The first and most
important way is by participation. It means joining in worship and
actively participating in at least one ministry which contributes to our
common mission. After participation, each new parish member is
encouraged to consider a more formal commitment to our faith community.
Full members of the Episcopal Church are known as "Communicants in Good
Standing" and are entitled to vote in parish meetings, to hold elective
office, and to serve on the Vestry (church board).
You become a member of the Christian Church universally through the
sacrament of Baptism. You become a member of an Episcopal Church by
being Baptised in an Episcopal Church, or transfering your Baptism
record to an Episcopal Church. A communicant is a Baptised Christian
who has also been Confirmed, and participates in the regular life of a
local congregation. We offer age-appropriate preparation classes for
each of these sacraments. If you have already been Baptized, Confirmed
and received Holy Communion in another Christian denomination, we do not
require that you be rebaptized or reconfirmed here. Instead, we ask that
you be "Received" into the Episcopal Church after taking an appropriate
preparatory class.
If you are already an official member of another Episcopal parish, you
may transfer membership to this parish by a Letter of Transfer.
The first step in all of the above is to contact the Church Office
(929-1722) and request to become a member of the parish.
